Abstract:
Cryptographic agility, or crypto-agility, refers to the capability of systems to seamlessly adopt new cryptographic algorithms and standards without requiring substantial modifications to the surrounding infrastructure. As we prepare for the transition to post-quantum cryptography (PQC), crypto-agility plays a pivotal role—not only in reducing the time and cost of migration but also in enabling future-proof adaptability to emerging standards. However, the pursuit of crypto-agility and the transition to PQC should not be approached in isolation. These efforts must be integrated within a broader cybersecurity framework, such as the National Network Security Framework, to ensure coherent governance. This talk aims to explore how cryptographic agility can be effectively translated into the cybersecurity framework, and how cloud-native technologies can further enhance the agility and resilience of cryptographic systems in evolving threat landscapes.
Biography:
Jihoon Cho is a corporate vice president in technology, currently leading the Security Research team at Samsung SDS. He previously worked as a security architect for mobile devices at LG Electronics. He holds a PhD in Information Security from Royal Holloway, University of London, and also studied cryptography with an M.Math degree at the University of Waterloo.
